Pirelli Temporarily Halts UK Production Amid JLR Cyberattack Fallout

Pirelli, a leading tyre manufacturer, has announced a temporary shutdown of its UK production facilities in Burton-on-Trent and Carlisle due to “market conditions” arising from a recent cyberattack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). The shutdowns, scheduled from October 24-29 in Burton-on-Trent and October 26-31 in Carlisle, are expected to affect up to 1,200 workers.

The cyberattack on JLR, which occurred in September, disrupted the company’s operations for several weeks, leading to halted vehicle production and significant financial losses. As a key supplier to JLR, Pirelli has been directly impacted by the reduced demand for tyres, prompting the temporary closure of its manufacturing plants.

Despite the temporary halt, Pirelli has expressed its commitment to the UK market and continues to invest in local manufacturing. The company remains the exclusive tyre supplier for Formula 1 and various other motorsport events.
