Linglong Tire Launches 4-Metre Giant OTR Tyre

Linglong Tire has introduced the new 59/80 R63 LXD Master Pro, which it reports is the world’s largest off-the-road (OTR) tyre. The tyre boasts a diameter of four metres (approx. 63 inches) and weighs over six tonnes. Designed for extreme duty, it delivers a load capacity of 100 tons and is targeted at ultra-heavy mining dump trucks such as the Caterpillar 797 or Komatsu 980.

Manufactured in Changchun (China), the product draws on nearly 40 years of Linglong’s OTR tyre experience, starting from its first cross-ply agricultural tyre in 1987. The launch represents a strategic milestone for Linglong as it moves into the highest-end segment of giant radial tyres, an area typically dominated by a few premium global players. For tyre-makers, suppliers and heavy-equipment OEMs the introduction of such a tyre shows where performance, scale and durability are combining to meet next-gen mining demands.

This launch is a strong signal that OTR tyres are no longer niche but a major strategic growth frontier for the tyre industry. The move by Linglong to produce a four-metre diameter tyre for 100-ton loads underscores how mining, infrastructure, and heavy-equipment demands are pushing tyre engineering to extremes. For Indian and Asian tyre manufacturers, the message is clear, staying in the road-vehicle tyre lane only may be limiting. Heavy-duty tyres, giant-format tyres, and off-highway applications require specialised design, supply-chain readiness, and aftermarket services. Companies that build these capabilities now will be better positioned for global growth in off-road segments rather than just competing in standard markets.
