TKC 80² Dual-Purpose Tyre: Continental Launches Second Generation in Malaysia Q1 2026

Continental is set to introduce the second-generation version of its renowned adventure motorcycle tyre, the Continental TKC 80, in Malaysia in the first quarter of 2026. The company refers to it as the TKC 80² (or TKC 802 in some markets).

This updated model is designed for a true 50:50 on-road/off-road ratio, catering to modern adventure bikes that demand a blend of asphalt comfort and off-trail capability. The enhancements include a new tread design with larger staggered blocks for improved mechanical grip and self-cleaning in dirt or gravel, an optimized carcass for stability and comfort, and a new rubber compound enhanced with “RainGrip” technology for better wet-condition performance. Continental says the TKC 80² provides a footprint that is up to 17 % larger in the centre tread zone for better straight-line stability and reduced uneven wear. While the previous generation built a loyal following over more than 40 years, this new version is billed as a “rebirth” to meet the demands of heavier adventure bikes with higher speeds, greater load, and more varied terrain.

The Malaysian rollout in Q1 2026 follows the product’s global introduction, with sizes covering popular rig configurations for travel enduros and adventure bikes. For riders and tyre specialists in Malaysia and the region, this means a new option in the dual-purpose category, one that blends premium technology with the adventure-bike aesthetic.

For the tyre market in India (and nearby markets), the import or regional availability of this new model should be watched, as adventure bike volumes are rising and with them the demand for premium dual-purpose tyres.

“Continental TKC 80² dual-purpose tyre” captures an important development for the adventure motorcycle and specialist tyre segment. Continental’s launch signals that even niche segments like dual-purpose motorcycle tyres are receiving deep technical upgrades rather than incremental tweaks.

For the broader tyre industry, this highlights a trend: premium and adventure categories are becoming arenas for innovation, new compounds, new tread geometries, and stronger brand positioning. As motorcycles in Asia adopt larger adventure formats, tyre makers have to ensure they offer products that match evolving expectations. The arrival of the TKC 80² dual-purpose tyre in Malaysia hints at both geographic rollout strategy and changing market dynamics in regional tyre demand.
