ACMA launches second Aftermarket Expo in Patna
The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) on 24 November 2025 inaugurated its second ACMA Aftermarket Expo 2025 in Patna, signalling a focused push toward strengthening the automotive aftermarket ecosystem in eastern India. The event was launched by Shravan Kumar, Minister of Transport and Rural Development, Government of Bihar, together with Manav Kapur (Chairman, ACMA Aftermarket Committee) and Ramashankar Pandey (Mentor, ACMA Aftermarket Sub-Committee). Over 30 major aftermarket companies are participating.
The first day saw strong industry representation, with more than 500 business visitors, including distributors, mechanics, fleet operators, workshop owners, retailers, and transporters, attending from Bihar and neighbouring states.
Skilling, inclusion, and service standards
A standout moment at the expo was the recognition of an ASDC-trained technician, a woman from Bihar, marking one of the first formally certified women technicians in the region. This underlines ACMA’s emphasis on structured training and on broadening inclusion in the technical workforce.
Officials pointed out that the expo isn’t just about showcasing auto components, it also aims to upskill mechanics, support independent garages, and ensure access to genuine, quality spare parts. This is seen as a move to improve safety, reliability, and service standards in the aftermarket space.
Exhibitors, products, and market potential
Among the exhibitors are well-known names such as ARB Bearings, Brakes India, Gabriel, JK Fenner, Lumax Auto Technologies, Minda Corporation, Steelbird International, Suprajit Engineering, and more, offering spare parts and auto components across categories.
The aftermarket in the Bihar–Jharkhand region contributes roughly 5 % to India’s national aftermarket market, supported by a network of around 155 automobile dealers and about 1,000 component retailers, along with numerous repair workshops, especially across major cities and highway corridors.
Editor’s View
The launch of ACMA Aftermarket Expo 2025 in Patna is a strong signal that the organised automotive aftermarket industry is turning its attention toward India’s emerging markets, especially in eastern states where motorisation is now growing fast. This matters for the tyre industry too because the demand for tyres and allied services (alignment, wheel balancing, service-bay repair) tends to rise wherever the aftermarket ecosystem grows.
By promoting formal skilling, encouraging inclusivity (notably women technicians) and pushing for genuine spare-part supply chains, ACMA is laying the groundwork for safer, more reliable vehicle maintenance, which reduces dependency on informal/unregulated repairs. Better maintenance culture often leads to higher demand for quality tyres, regular check-ups, and credible tyre-service providers.
If this momentum spreads to other tier-2 and tier-3 cities, tyre dealers and OEM tyre makers, along with aftermarket parts suppliers, have a clear opportunity to tap underserved markets. For Tyre Times, this expo underlines an important shift: aftermarket growth is no longer confined to big metros, it is spreading inland, and with it, a new wave of demand for quality tyres, maintenance, and services.
