Yamaha to Showcase Radical EV and Hybrid Two-Wheeler Concepts at Tokyo Mobility Show 2025

Yamaha Motor plans to unveil a striking range of electric and hybrid two-wheelers at the upcoming Tokyo Mobility Show 2025 (October 29–November 9), presenting six world-premiere models among a total of 16 future-mobility concept vehicles.

Key concepts include the “Proto BEV,” an electric supersport motorcycle designed for large-capacity battery performance with Yamaha’s handling heritage; the “H2 Buddy Porter,” a hydrogen-powered two-wheeler developed in collaboration with Toyota and offering a 100 km range; and hybrid models like the MT-09 Hybrid and XMAX HYBRID, which integrate electric motors and petrol engines for next-gen urban and performance use.

Yamaha’s broader exhibit theme, “Feel. Move.,” reflects its strategic focus on redefining human-machine mobility across powertrains, from battery electric to hydrogen and hybrid systems. For the tyre industry, these developments imply growing demand for two-wheeler tyres that accommodate new weights, torque profiles, and usage patterns, especially in urban and shared-mobility contexts where start-stop cycles and sensor integration become more important.

From a tyre-industry perspective, Yamaha’s future-mobility pivot underscores that two-wheel tyres are entering a phase of technological transformation, not just an incremental update. As EVs, hybrids, and hydrogen vehicles become more common in the two-wheeler category, especially in Asia, tyre makers must adapt compounds, load structures, and smart-monitoring capabilities accordingly. Focusing on durability, lighter construction, and compatibility with connected systems will give a competitive advantage rather than simply replicating current-generation tyres.
